In the framework of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Socialist Party of Albania, in a ceremony held at the Palace of Congresses, several of the historical figures and founders of this political force were awarded gold medals for their contribution over the years to the political and institutional life of the country.

Among the honorees were Gramoz Ruçi, Rexhep Meidani, Namik Dokle, Ylli Bufi, as well as other well-known figures of the Socialist Party, including Valentina Leskaj, Anastas Angjeli, Musa Ulqini, Halil Lalaj, and Besnik Baraj.

During the ceremony, the awardees recalled the challenges of the first years of transition and the role of the Socialist Party in the democratic development of the country.

Former Speaker of the Assembly Gramoz Ruçi has been awarded a gold medal for his contribution to the Socialist Party, during the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Tirana branch of the Socialist Party.

During his speech, Ruçi expressed his conviction that the SP will win its 5th mandate.

"Dear socialists of the Municipality of Tirana, the Municipality of Kamëz, the Municipality of Vora, the Municipality of Kavaja and the Municipality of Rrogozhina. I find it difficult because it is my turn to be the first to say two words. This gratitude is not for me nor for my friends, because the greatest gratitude for us was the trust that the socialists gave us over the years, to be their representatives. Therefore, my gratitude is for every leader of the SP and for every organization leader. Gratitude goes to the leaders of the SP today, for the Presidency of the SP, for the Parliamentary Group of the SP and for the governance of the SP. For us, yesterday's leaders of the SP, it is very significant that in this 35th anniversary, when we look at the SP from a numerical point of view, not only has it not shrunk, but it has grown. We are hopeful that the SP today is more vital, stronger, more progressive and the fourth mandate is not enough, it will certainly secure a fifth mandate. My advice to the new leaders of the Presidency, of the National Assembly, is twofold: "First, love the ordinary member of the SP, love and respect the SP voter, be with him in joys and sorrows. If you don't solve his problem, cry for him. The last appeal I have is to support Edi Rama's vision for Albania 2030. Support Rama's ambition for Albania's integration into the EU. Support Rama's energies to govern Albania better. Support Rama's dedication and perseverance. I am convinced that by doing these things, the victory of the SP in 2029 is certain," said Ruçi.

In his speech, Rexhep Meidani expressed the desire for Albania to move towards the social and democratic models of the Nordic countries.

"I hope that the Socialist Party will lead Albania to the models we have in the Nordic countries, which even the famous American senator Bernie Sanders wants to develop in America, and we want it in Albania."

While Namik Dokle emphasized that the fundamental values ??of the SP remain progress and solidarity.

"It seems to me a wonderful evening of socialists from all over Albania. 35 years ago, in this hall, the Socialist Party was founded with a clear mission and a big dream. We who started politics at that time did not have a political school, but we had idealism. I had the honor of leading the first group of the Socialist Party, an extraordinary group, where I had 9 professors from all branches. Ideals remain, ideas change, transform and some are perhaps even forgotten, but the essence of the Socialist Party remains forever and that essence is in its letters, SP which means progress and solidarity. I saw this medal and said how beautiful it was, Blendi Klosi showed it to me and I said there was no way it could not be beautiful because the one who designed this medal also designed Albania, Edi Rama", said Namik Dokle.

Former Prime Minister Ylli Bufi praised the party's achievements over three and a half decades, underlining that the historical objective remains Albania's full integration into the European Union.

"I believe that every political force can rise to the level of its political mission if it knows how to rely on the inherited experience. Today, I and my friends from the early years are proud of the path followed and everything that has been achieved. There are many things to feel proud of, but I want to highlight the fact that Albanians voted for the Socialist Party from the moment they realized that it could be a governing alternative for the people's progress, an alternative that put Albania on the path of rapid development and is crowning it with the historic objective of joining the European family," said former Prime Minister Ylli Bufi.

Other honored figures also emphasized the importance of political heritage, solidarity between generations, and the role of the Socialist Party in the country's development processes.

The ceremony became a moment of reflection and gratitude for the contribution of the founding generation of the Socialist Party, bringing to attention the figures who have played a key role in its 35-year history./ CNA
