Arben Malaj: Tsipras wants power, Narta and Zvërnec have no Greeks

Former Minister of Finance, Arben Malaj, reacted today regarding the recent developments in Zvërnec and Pishe Poro-Nartë.

Through a post on social media, Malaj states that throughout the entire period he has served as a deputy for the Vlora District, he has never once identified the presence of a population of Greek origin.

According to Malaj, the former Greek Prime Minister who is now coming with a new party, Alexis Tsipras, seems "well understood", because with his positions that provoke nationalist feelings, he seeks to gain votes and return to power.

"Let Narta always remain the Narta of hardworking, education-loving people and outstanding professionals."

Never engaged in political debates/arguments, neither during the communist era nor during the democratic era.

I was their MP and I never felt any dissatisfaction, and I never felt them declaring themselves Greek and demanding to be treated as a Greek minority.

Celebrating with the wonderful people of Narta when they come every year to celebrate and mingle with their parents, friends and colleagues.

When we, during the years of communism, teased each other, "go away, Lab", "go away, Cham", go away, Arixhi or go away, Yevg", we never told our friends "go away, Greek".

Therefore, do not import the serious political crisis in Greece (among Greek political parties regarding the wiretapping scandal) into the Albanian political environment.

Tsipras must be "well understood" because he seeks to return to power and provoking nationalist sentiments is considered a source of votes.

But Narta and Zvërnec will continue to be uninterested and unabated by politics.

I disagreed and expected only a diplomatic reaction against the Greek Prime Minister's statement,

who, while also on an electoral campaign, a few years ago declared in the middle of Himara that "Himara is the cradle of Hellenism",

when even according to Greek scholars this is not a historical truth.

Even for Greece, as our neighboring country,

we wish not to misuse "Albanians with Greek passports"

for nationalist provocations in Albania.

"Good days for both peoples, without nationalist extremes," Malaj writes./CNA
