The situation in Zvërnec/Zhupa: It is not a new battle, it will be resolved

MP Ina Zhupa reacted this afternoon regarding the situation created in Zvërnec.

Through a post on social media, Zhupa states that the solution is simple and concrete, only through voting in the Assembly.

According to Zhupa, this is not just a battle for Zvërnec, but for the Albania we want to leave to our children.

The democrat further adds that the battle for Zvërnec did not start today, but in 2024, while now with a legal proposal the issue could end.

"Zvërneci today is the symbol of a danger that threatens every protected area in Albania. The fadromas that are approaching our nature are not a coincidence, but a direct consequence of Law 21/2024, the law that paved the way for construction and interventions in territories that should have been preserved for future generations and are national assets."

The solution is simple and concrete: the assembly should vote on my legal proposal to repeal Law 21/2024. With its repeal, the legal path for the plunder of our natural resources is closed and the Fadromas are removed from Zvërnec and any other protected area.

Edi Rama accepted a single truth today, which he has been planning since 2023.

This battle certainly did not start today. We, too, have been warning since the beginning of 2024 about the consequences of the legal changes that were made to destroy protected areas. It is for this very reason that the European Union today demands the repeal of this law. I have made 72 public statements, 4 expert roundtables throughout Albania, participated in 3 sessions at the Constitutional Court, made 2 parliamentary interpellations and held hundreds of speeches and statements to protect nature and the public interest.

You have on the table a legal proposal that could finally close the door on any predator of public property. Now is the moment for everyone to choose which side they stand on: with nature, with the public interest and with the future of Albania, or with those who seek to profit at its expense.

"I believe in Albanian youth. I believe that young people will understand that this is not just a battle for Zvërnec, but for the Albania that we want to leave to our children. It is our obligation to protect it and hand it over to the generations that come more beautiful and healthier than we found it," Zhupa writes. /CNA
