As he had announced, Prime Minister Edi Rama, at the meeting of the Socialist Party parliamentary group today, also took a position on the protests and clashes that occurred in Zvërnec two days ago.
Rama said that if he were in the protesters' shoes, he would also stand against the government and the prime minister, because it is terrible that some private guards are acting like animals in the eyes of the State Police. The prime minister said that the protester was within his rights and those who dragged him should be arrested on the spot by the police officers present there.
Rama said that he himself would probably have done worse if they had told him that the state had given away the land to foreigners. Focusing on the project in Zvërnec, Rama said that he does not need the seat of power if he has to give up his vision for governance.
"And I would also revolt and stand against the government and the prime minister. Because it would seem terrible to me that some private guards in the eyes of the police of my state would howl like animals and take a person in his own right from the outside and drag him away and then the police would say that the person who was dragged inside himself. While they should have arrested those who dragged the protester there and then.
I understand you well and perhaps I would have done worse than you if they had told me that that land belongs to the state and that the state is giving it to foreigners. I have also seen legends that the state is giving that land to Israel to bring in Palestinians.
If they told me that it was a protected area and the government removed it from protection, if they told me that instead of flamingos, the black money of the international mafia will be laundered, etc., etc., what they told you. They were written raising a wave of anger and even calling for the defense of the homeland in danger. I understand this very well and your anger, I wonder if I should show you the other side of this coin. Or should I say sorry, we were wrong, the project will be canceled and you can calm down and enjoy the victory of a cause that from your perspective is truly noble. While I, after putting this on, sit in my chair, postpone the time of rest with the bitter taste of a great loss for Albania. But why should I do this? For power? For the chair or for the mud that I get in my face and that comes to me daily on the living and the dead of my house?
"What do I need the chair for if I have to give up the vision I shared with you? And the day after tomorrow, instead of that investment, the next fragmentation will take place, the next Golem. That the ability and courage to return Albania to the Golem is alive and ready ," said Rama.
