Macron: More must be done for regional integration and EU enlargement

French President Emmanuel Macron, speaking at the summit in Tirana, stated that Europe must insist on ensuring a lasting peace in Ukraine.

Macron emphasizes that more needs to be done for regional integration and EU enlargement.

The President of France gave the message that Europe must coordinate, must act united.

"Russia does not want a ceasefire. It should return to the discussions that were held in 2022. We should insist on ensuring a lasting peace in Ukraine. I hope there should be a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Moldova should be supported against daily aggression by Russia.

It's all about coordinating between us to end the situation in Gaza. A ceasefire is needed.

We need peace, we need unity, security.

To be distinctive we must have a common response. We need a strong pillar in NATO and we must act together. Europe matters more today when it comes to our security.

I would like us to build a coalition of countries to fight trafficking and corruption.

We are dealing with our democratic security. We can understand from the elections, there are threats to undermine democracy. We understood that there is constant foreign interference that is undermining our democracies.

More needs to be done for regional integration and EU enlargement. We need to coordinate to combat external threats.

We are stronger if we stand together. We must protect our markets.

We are at a point where we need to master the situation.

"It is time to set up a secretariat to coordinate these within the EPP, including the presence of the European Council. This would be useful," Macron said./ CNA
