The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha, during his participation in the IDU World Forum in Brussels, declared that he had come to denounce the electoral farce of May 11 and to defend the vote of Albanians. Berisha met with IDU leaders and representatives of right-wing parties from around the world, ensuring support for the Albanian opposition’s efforts to restore free voting.
Opposition leader Sali Berisha said that the DP has documented irregularities and manipulations in real time, and as soon as the complaints process is completed, it will submit the final report to the main Western chancelleries. According to Berisha, unlike in 2001, this time the entire state is involved in vote buying through the distribution of public money, employment and links to crime.
Berisha added that the DP is also requesting a hearing in the US Congress to present evidence of the installation of the narco-state. Regarding the parliament, the opposition will continue the battle for a free vote. Regarding the ban on tomorrow's protest by the State Police, Berisha said that the decision is unconstitutional and the protest will be held.
FULL INTERVIEW
Syri Tv: Mr. Berisha, IDU previously approved a resolution for Albania, proposed by the DP, today you are participating in this summit. How were the meetings and where did you focus your conversation with the representatives of the political parties that are part of IDU?
Berisha: Today is the IDU world forum held in Brussels. Once it is held in Washington, the next time it is held in Brussels. I came here urgently to protect the vote of the Albanians. To present before the audience and the personalities present at this forum, the shameful electoral farce of May 11.
And, here is an extremely suitable ground, since all of what happened on May 11 is fully foreseen in the December resolution of the IDU Washington forum.
During these hours of stay, I had the opportunity to meet and inform about the latest developments, the president of the IDU, Mr. Stefan Harper, and many other personalities from Europe, but also from other countries around the world.
So, the main goal is the online denunciation, flame by flame, so to speak, of the electoral farce, which for the sake of truth I have denounced, and which was also denounced with great professionalism by observers of international institutions of the May 11 elections.
Syri Tv: You received some kind of guarantee from the representatives and leaders of political parties. What guarantee did they give to Sali Berisha regarding this issue?
Berisha: they fully support 100% the efforts that the DP and the Albanian opposition are making to restore free voting to Albanian citizens, and condemn the electoral farce of Edi Rama. We are infinitely grateful to the IDU, the EPP and the CDI, which have spoken in their resolutions in the same language against the Albanian narco-state and the transformation of the electoral process into an electoral farce by Edi Rama, the narco-dictator who has concentrated all powers in his hands.
Syri Tv: How much time does the DP team need to submit this evidence to the representatives of the EPP, EP, EC, IDU representatives, to submit the evidence of the electoral farce, as you call it, and to those you have denounced from the blue headquarters during these days, after May 11?
Berisha: We have everything ready in real time, we have it prepared, but of course, it is finalized with the finalization of the electoral process and the review of complaints. After that, we have the report ready. We have worked in the most serious way. We have predicted these developments. And precisely, in this trend, we have documented the endless multitude of irregularities, violations, manipulations, of these elections.
So, the end of the process is almost at the same time, and so is the conclusion of the report that we will present to all major organizations, which include all the major chancelleries of Europe and the world, in Washington, in the German, British, French chancelleries. Everywhere, we will present the documentation of Edi Rama's electoral farce.
Syri Tv: Mr. Berisha, you were asked earlier, what is the difference between 2001 and 2025, and this evidence, considering the development of technology now, do you have more confidence in the evidence you have collected now, or in the ones comparing it to 2001?
Berisha: They were of a different character. Why were they of a different character?
In 2001, the government mainly engaged the police. This time, however, the engagement was the entire state. This time, Edi Rama publicly bought votes, distributed 70 million euros in the electoral campaign to buy votes, giving 100 euros to 48% of Albanian voters who are pensioners today. He bought votes by forgiving 200 million euros in interest and fines for ten years. He bought euros by authorizing the planting of millions and millions of cannabis roots, at a time when one cannabis root brings in 1000 euros in income.
It bought votes, employing tens of thousands of citizens. Yes, these were public. The criminal world, like never before, engaged with all its hundreds, millions, if not billions of euros in buying votes on orders and brought to parliament about 28 candidates financed, supported, guaranteed by criminal organizations.
Syri Tv: You have held two important hearings, you have held two hearings earlier. Do you think that a hearing in the American Congress is of great importance, considering this situation? What is being done in this regard by the DP, but also by its representatives, and by yourself, to enable development in America regarding the issue of elections?
Berisha: We come to present everything to the legislators, to the US administration, all the flagrant facts we have, which refute this electoral farce and prove that a narco-state is installed in Albania.
We are trying and I am optimistic. Of course, the agenda of the American Congress and the Senate is a very busy one. But I am very confident that we will succeed in presenting our just cause in one way or another.
Syri Tv: Mr. Berisha, the old parliament, I call it that, after the new parliament has emerged from the May 11 elections, will return to plenary session again. How will the opposition now fare in the Albanian parliament? Will it continue its battle for the free vote, as you called it in parliament? Is there an agenda regarding this issue?
Berisha: The opposition will draft its own agenda, but the opposition will continue the battle for free voting in all forms.
Syri Tv: There is a decision by the State Police not to allow the protest announced by the Opposition tomorrow at 5:00 PM. Do you have an answer for the State Police and do you have a second scenario?
Berisha: The opposition does not recognize any unconstitutional decision. The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania has given a final answer to the issue of rallies. Yes, we publicly declare that the opposition rally does not threaten and will not threaten the safety of guests in Tirana.
