Von der Leyen: Putin does not want peace, we are preparing a new sanctions package

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, met with Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Then, in a press statement, he spoke about the ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine.

According to Von der Leyen, Russian President Putin does not want peace, so they have prepared a new package of sanctions to put pressure on him.

"We asked for a ceasefire, but Putin refused and in the end a direct meeting took place in Turkey. Zelenskyy was ready to meet, Putin does not want peace. We need to put more pressure on him. We will make a new package of sanctions that will include a ban on Russian fleet ships from transporting oil and other sanctions on the economic sector of Albania," Von der Leyen said./ CNA
