A few minutes after the closing of the diaspora registration process for the May 11 elections, the Political Director of the Socialist Party for the Diaspora, Taulant Balla, thanked all Albanians who registered to vote by mail.

“A QUARTER OF A MILLION VOTERS FROM THE DIASPORA.

"Grateful to all those who registered to participate in these historic elections," Balla wrote a few minutes after midnight on March 4, when the deadline to register for the May 11 elections as out-of-state voters ended.

After the registration process closes, the processing of applications continues, and this morning there are over 232,000 registered voters.

Since January 11, when the online process opened, 294,155 voters have requested to register.

The CEC announces that 20 thousand requests are still under review, out of over 42 thousand rejections.

"The interest of compatriots in this process has been impressive both in terms of numbers and the geographical spread of the countries from which requests came from Albanians around the globe," Balla declared./ CNA
