Two Chinese workers were killed in an explosion in Karachi

Two Chinese citizens have been killed by a powerful explosion near the airport of Karachi, Pakistan's largest city.

The Chinese embassy in Pakistan called the explosion a "terrorist attack".

The separatist group, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), claimed responsibility for the blast in a statement.

The attack took place on the evening of October 6 and targeted a convoy of Chinese workers of the Port Qasim Energy Company, which was traveling from the airport, the Chinese Embassy said.

Chinese nationals were working on the construction of two coal-fired power plants in Pakistan.

Thousands of Chinese work in Pakistan, most on projects related to the multibillion-dollar Belt and Road Initiative, which is China's massive plan to build infrastructure projects for economic connectivity with the world .
