Drone attack causes fire at oil depot in Crimea

An oil warehouse was engulfed in fire on Monday morning in Feodosia, in occupied Crimea, as a result of a Ukrainian drone attack, Russian Telegram channels reported.

Residents said they heard several loud explosions around 4:30 a.m. in Feodosia, followed by a fire.

The Russian-based office in Crimea confirmed that an oil depot was engulfed in fire, without mentioning the drone strike.

Oleg Kryuchkov, an adviser to the president installed by Russia in Crimea, wrote on Telegram that there were no casualties.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Defense of Russia said on Telegram that Russian anti-aircraft downed 21 drones on Monday morning, of which 12 over Crimea, 6 over Kursk region and others over Belgorod, Briansk and Voronezh regions.

Crimea was annexed by Russia in 2014, and Kiev wants it back as it fights back against Russia's 17-month-old full-scale occupation.

The war in Ukraine started on February 24, 2022. The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, calls the war a "special military operation" to demilitarize Ukraine.

The West has responded to Russia, hitting the economy of this country with harsh sanctions.

As a result of the war, thousands of people have died and millions more have been displaced from their homes./ REL
