Russia attacks Kiev and other Ukrainian cities with drones

Russian forces launched 87 drones and four missiles into Ukraine overnight, targeting the capital Kiev and other cities, Ukrainian authorities said on October 6.

Ukrainian air defense units have shot down 56 drones and two missiles, the Air Force of Ukraine announced in a Telegram post.

Serhiy Popko, the head of Kiev's military administration, wrote on Telegram that "Russian drones were launched into Kiev through several waves and from different directions."

The attacks in Kiev, according to the authorities, lasted for more than five hours during the night.

Russian airstrikes also hit the Black Sea port of Odesa, causing several explosions in Odesa, local authorities said.

There were no reports of casualties from the overnight attacks by Moscow, which has launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Meanwhile, the governor of Kherson, Oleksandr Prokudin, said earlier on October 6 that one civilian was killed and 15 others were wounded in this southern Ukrainian region during Russian attacks carried out in the previous 24 hours./ Rel
