International rescue teams help Bosnia after deadly floods

Rescue teams from neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union on Sunday joined efforts to find people missing from floods and landslides and to clear the rubble.

Bosnia has asked for help from the EU after heavy rains on Thursday and Friday caused floods and landslides that left at least 18 people dead. The natural disaster also destroyed roads and bridges and injured dozens of people.

Officials said at least 10 people were still missing, most from the southern Bosnian village of Donja Jabllanica, which was hit by massive landslides.

Luigi Soreca, the head of the EU mission in Bosnia, wrote in "X" that the European bloc stands with Bosnia and that rescue teams are going to help this country.

Authorities said rescue teams from Croatia have left, while a team from Serbia is expected to go to Bosnia later on October 6, followed by a canine rescue team to be sent from Slovenia. Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, the Czech Republic and Turkey have also provided assistance, authorities in Bosnia said./ Rel
