Attacks in Lebanon/ The Prime Minister repeats the call for a ceasefire

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati has reiterated calls to support an immediate ceasefire.

In a statement, Najib Mikati said his government continues to support the "joint call for a ceasefire" launched last week by France and the US with the support of the European Union and Arab countries.

It adds that Lebanon continues to "demand that pressure be put on Israel to respect the ceasefire and immediately implement resolution 1701.

Separately, Mikati also welcomes the recently expressed support for Lebanon by French President Emmanuel Macron.

As a reminder, on Saturday, Macron spoke in favor of a ban on arms shipments to Israel, which drew immediate criticism from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu./ CNA
