According to the assessment of the German government, Ukraine can protect itself from Russian attacks with German weapons by using them also against military targets in Russia. 

"In recent weeks, Russia from positions in the direct Russian border area has prepared, coordinated and carried out attacks especially in the Kharkiv area," German government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said in a press release.

"Together we are convinced that Ukraine has the guaranteed international right to defend itself against these attacks. For this, it can use the weapons supplied in accordance with international legal obligations, even the weapons with which we have furnished it", it is further stated in the announcement of the German government.

This step of Germany came after the approval that the USA also did. The spokesman of the German government did not say what kind of weapons it is, but it is believed that the weapons that could be used are "Haubitz" 2000 tanks and MARS-II rocket launchers./ DW
