Homeless in Edinburgh move to make way for Taylor Swift fans

"A number of homeless people have been moved from Edinburgh, Scotland to make way for tourists ahead of Taylor Swift's concerts," BBC News reported.

Shelter Scotland said some homeless people have been taken by taxi to Aberdeen, Glasgow and Newcastle due to a lack of accommodation.

The housing organization has called it a "blatant injustice," for homeless people to be "in direct competition" with tourists.

City of Edinburgh Council is working to find alternative accommodation for those affected. The director of Shelter Scotland, Alison Watson, has emphasized that the situation reflects the housing emergency in Scotland.

The council has admitted to using tourist accommodation as a last resort for homelessness during busy periods, including the Taylor Swift concert on June 7-9 at Murrayfield.

There is a legal obligation to provide temporary emergency accommodation to people declared homeless in Scotland and this can come in the form of hotels.
