After Larijani's assassination, Israel targets another senior Iranian leader

Following the assassination of Iran's Security Chief, Ali Larijani, Israel has targeted another senior name in the Iranian leadership.

Israeli media outlets Haaretz, the Jerusalem Post and  the Times of Israel reported that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) targeted Iran's intelligence minister, Esmaeil Khatib, in an overnight airstrike in Tehran.

The attack was first reported by Iran International and later confirmed by an Israeli official. The results of the strike are still being reviewed by Israel.

Esmaeil Khatib has served as intelligence minister since August 2021. He is one of the closest people to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in an Israeli strike at the beginning of the war that began on February 28. /CNA
