Focus on the headscarf and family protection/ Erdogan announces new changes to the Turkish Constitution

Speaking to journalists after the cabinet meeting held today in Ankara, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan recalled that new changes to the Constitution were one of the priorities of the new government elected last May, protothema reports .

The current Turkish constitution, drawn up after the 1980 coup, has so far undergone few changes.

"With the opening of our National Assembly, we will fulfill the promises we made to our nation, especially for the headscarf and the protection of the family. On the 100th anniversary of our democracy, we want to save the Turkish Republic from the coup constitution and combine it with a political constitution," said the Turkish president.

Regarding the progress of the economy, he said that Deputy Prime Minister Cevdet Yilmaz has informed the cabinet about the medium-term plan, which is a guide for the Turkish government./CNA.al
