Weather situation in the country/AKMC: Several problems are evident, here is the

Over the last 24 hours, our country has been affected by unstable weather conditions and a significant drop in temperatures.

As reported by AKMC, problems related to flooding, rising river levels, road blockages and landslides have been identified in several regions.

Shkodër County remains one of the most affected areas. In Shkodër Municipality, the areas of Obot and Dajç continue to face rising water levels due to the inflows of the Buna and Drin rivers as well as the rising lake level. Around 500 hectares of agricultural land are still under water, mainly in the village of Obot and the administrative unit of Ana e Malit. The road axis connecting the village of Obot to the main road has water up to 120 cm, partially isolating the area. In the administrative unit of Dajç, especially in the Urrelat–Shirq area, water has come out of the drainage canals, expanding the flooded areas. The situation is being monitored continuously and in some areas the gradual withdrawal of water has begun.

In Lezha Region, the floods have mainly affected agricultural lands. In Lezha Municipality, around 1,200 hectares of agricultural land are reported to be under water, mainly in the Balldren and Zejmen areas. In Torovicë and Zejmen, the water withdrawal is happening at a slow pace. In Kurbin Municipality, the water level has decreased in the most problematic areas such as Adriatik, Gjorm and Mamurras, while verifications of damage to housing, equipment and agricultural crops have continued, as well as the evacuation of livestock in certain areas.

The Vlora region presents a situation that is gradually improving. In the Vlora Municipality, the water level of the Vjosa River in the Novosela area has started to decrease and the situation is moving towards normalization, however, it remains under constant monitoring. In the Selenicë Municipality, problems from landslides continue in the village of Vajzë and on several rural road axes, where traffic is restricted. In the Himara Municipality, in the Qafë e Vishës area, the risk of falling stones on the road continues, requiring increased caution in traffic.

In Korça Region, the problems are mainly related to landslides, the presence of water and snow on several road axes. In the Municipality of Pogradec, landslides have been reported on segments of national and rural roads, as well as about 25 hectares of land with the presence of water. In the Municipality of Maliq, as a result of the breach of the Devoll River embankment, about 3,600 hectares of agricultural land have been flooded, while the situation is being kept under control after the interventions of the relevant structures. In the Municipality of Devoll, after the breach of the Oshticë River embankment, about 270 hectares of land were flooded, but the breach has been closed and the situation has stabilized.

The Gjirokastër region continues to have problems scattered across several municipalities. In the Gjirokastër Municipality, the Qafës e Çajup road remains blocked, while work is underway to reinforce the Drino River embankment. In the municipalities of Libohëvo, Memaliaj, Përmet and Këlcyrë, numerous landslides have been reported that have blocked rural roads and endangered homes, necessitating temporary evacuations in several areas. Interventions continue depending on terrain conditions and the decrease in river flows.

According to meteorological forecasts, a gradual decrease in flows in most rivers is expected in the coming hours and days, but low temperatures and frost, especially in mountainous areas, will continue to require increased caution and continuous monitoring of the situation. /CNA
