The Director of the Center for Interreligious Cooperation in Elbasan, Dr. Arben Ramkaj, calls the passing of His Grace, Archbishop Anastasios Janullatos, a moment of reflection.

For Dr. Ramkaj, Janullatos was an Orthodox spiritual leader who sacrificed everything to build a sustainable and principled community.

According to Ramkaj, His Grace is perhaps among the rare clerics who knew how to cope with "al-Shqiptar" politics, with its intrigues and absurdities. Especially when some of our politicians, in relation to religion, resemble the characters created by the world-famous author Miguel de Cervantes in the work "Don Quixote of La Mancha".

He emphasizes that Janullatos did not hesitate to say "No" when politics threatened the interests of the community he served with such dedication.

Ramkaj adds that the Orthodox lost a clerical figure of world importance, but the clergy of every community learned what religion means, what deepening, community commitment, and loyalty to dogma mean.

"The departure from this earthly life of His Grace, the Archbishop of Durrës, Tirana and all of Albania, is a moment of reflection.

He was not just a cleric of Greek nationality and Albanian citizenship who served in Albania; he was an intellectual of the highest clerical level, an Orthodox spiritual leader who sacrificed everything to build a stable and principled community. I have discerned this from meetings with many Orthodox clerics, both of the younger generation and of the older generation.

In his long and challenging life, His Grace is perhaps among the rare clerics who knew how to cope with "Albanian-style" politics, with its intrigues and absurdities. Especially when some of our politicians, in relation to religion, resemble the characters created by the world-famous author Miguel de Cervantes in the work "Don Quixote of La Mancha".

He faced these challenges with wisdom and dignity. He did not hesitate to say "No" when politics threatened the interests of the community he served with such dedication. This attitude of his reminds us of other giants of faith, such as H. Sabri Koçi and Baba Rexhep Selimi, who at key moments of the day courageously defended values ??and faith.

I have read some of his books, translated into Albanian, which promote the value of faith and the importance of coexistence. I urge every cleric clothed with knowledge to read them. The Orthodox lost a clerical figure of world importance, but the clerics of every community learned what religion means, what deepening, community commitment and loyalty to dogma mean. Since I am a believer of another real faith of the country, I said these words as evidence of what I have seen as an observer and as someone who tries to be fair.
