The demise of Archbishop Anastasios/Mitsotakis: He was a bridge of communication

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has reacted to the passing of Archbishop Anastasios Giannoulatos.

Mitsotakis says that his contribution remains invaluable and indelible.

He emphasizes that the Archbishop, in addition to his contribution, was a bridge of communication between Greece and Albania.

"I express my condolences for the loss of Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana, Durrës and Albania. His contribution to Orthodoxy is invaluable. His mark must remain indelible not only in the neighboring country, but in every corner of the Earth where Greekism lives and breathes. A voice that may be silent, however, will forever transmit messages of life and peaceful coexistence.

Because Anastasius was both a spiritual man and an active servant of man and his rights. Sometimes as an advocate for the children of Africa and sometimes as a co-representative of the Greek students who resisted the dictatorship. And, of course, as a pioneer of the Church in Albania. The first Archbishop there and the first fighter for the interests of our national homogeneity.

I was fortunate to meet and collaborate with the Priest who combined the dynamism of faith with natural gentleness. As a national duty with altruism. A personality who became a bridge of communication between the two countries. These are characteristics that make our grief more severe. But the Archbishop's legacy is even more valuable for all.

Today, Albania, the homeland and all Hellenism mourn the death of Anastas. It is certain, however, that starting tomorrow they will be inspired by his radiant action and eternal wisdom. In the constant effort to transmit, as he said, "from heart to heart the light of hope". May his memory be eternal", Mitsotakis writes./ CNA
