12-year-old boy lost his life at QSUT/ Football match in his honor, family

This morning, a football match was held at the Maliqi stadium between the Maliqi youth team and Skënderbeg, in honor of 12-year-old Leo Sadiku, who lost his life on January 8 at the QSUT.

Leo's family members were present at the stadium, along with his school friends and the team Leo himself was a part of.

In her speech to the media, the mother of 12-year-old Roveta Sadiku, has made strong accusations against the doctors at the Tirana hospital, demanding justice for the negligence that was done to her son. Leo's mother tells through tears what happened at the Tirana hospital, where according to her, the 12-year-old did not receive the proper service and as a result died.

Roveta Sadiku says that they filed a complaint with the Maliqi police station, while the case was referred to the prosecutor's office, but the latter has not yet summoned them to the institution even after 16 days from the serious incident. Among other things, Leo's mother explains the reason why she did not allow a forensic examination to be carried out.

Leo's mother, along with the 12-year-old's sister, have called for justice, saying they will not stop and will protest until the truth about Leo's death is revealed.

"I have not received an answer yet, all the things I heard on social media, what the QSUT expressed, were lies. I have the answer myself as a mother because I saw from beginning to end what happened to my Leo. Total negligence by the medical profession, starting from Korça to Tirana. I demand justice for this, only justice for my Leo."

Many other children could die like my Leo, because they took Leo by the throat, didn't treat him properly, neglected Leo, they lied to Leo's mother and told him he had a virus. They only did two abdominal ultrasounds and an X-ray and 3 tests, that's all they did to my Leo. They took Leo out with a high temperature in Tirana, Leo didn't go with a high temperature, Leo didn't have high blood pressure when he went to Tirana, because I took him out of the intensive care unit in Korça and took him there.

They took him out with myocardial infarction, my Leo, they didn't even do an echo, nothing about his heart. It's all lies. They put him in a ward, but it wasn't a ward, it was a prison, what a state, what conditions. They gave Leo cold serum, when I went I found him with bruised hands, they told me he had a cold. I told them Leo was excreting a lot, they told me he would excrete, we would put serum in him.

Until he went into critical condition and then I remember a group of doctors, asking for an ambulance to come in the last moments, What would those moments do to my Leo when for 7 hours in a row he didn't give them any help.

That child has been vomiting for 7 hours, let me get that doctor out of the way, he has been vomiting blood while she said it's remnants of stomach mucosa.

There were no remains but blood because I have photos. What did you do with my child??? Like here and there on all 4 sides nothing was done for my Leo.

We filed a report and denunciation at the Maliq police station, we sent the documentation and they told us the prosecutor's office would call us, but 16 days have passed and no one has remembered about Leo. It seems like negligence to me.

When Leo passed away, in a serious psychological state, I asked them not to touch Leo, I didn't allow anyone to approach him because they were exhausting me, killing me little by little, and I told them I didn't want an autopsy to be performed.

Leo's autopsy was not done because Leo asked me verbally not to cut me open or operate on me, my heart couldn't take it. The police didn't come there either, nothing because I didn't know these existed, now I'm hearing that the autopsy should have been done with or without my consent. However, let them make any diagnosis, I want justice for the negligence they did to the boy. Leo was an angel, energetic who didn't want to see tears in his mother's eyes. Mom can't help but cry for you son, as I look at this field, when I look at your friends.

"If the state doesn't take action, if the state doesn't move, I will protest, I won't just leave it as if it were the last day of my life," said Leo's mother.

"My brother played for the last time on this field on December 28th. I don't want the state to play with my brother's soul. I want justice and for it to be the first time at least that we raise our voices and not remain silent for all the children," said Leo's sister.

For the coach of the team where Leo was a striker, Robert Këndezi, the 12-year-old was an excellent athlete, tireless and dedicated. He has shown that Leo has not had any health problems because according to the procedures, every 6 months they performed tests and heart ECG. Among other things, the coach shares some memories with Leo Sadiku.

"Today, in memory of the footballer Leo, we will organize the Maliqi-Skënderbeu match to remember that excellent athlete, a good boy, dedicated to sports. An educated, tireless boy, a good striker. In general, he was a very good athlete. Leo was a boy from Pocesta, near Maliqi and came to training every day, he never missed even on days when it was difficult that I would tell him on the phone, we won't play today because the weather is bad and the field is not good, the professor would say, don't give us a break.

He loved sports a lot. He was absolutely a strong boy. Not only us as Maliqi's team but every team does tests on everyone, we don't accept children without doing the tests. He was a very healthy child. There was no match where he didn't score a goal, even when I changed him, the professor would ask me why he was changing me. He was a tireless boy. The day he lost his life, we had training, when I told my friends that Leo had passed away, all the children started crying, and they didn't even have training.

"Not only the children but everyone feels it. Even the citizens of Maliq did not believe it when they learned about it, a very good boy, a physically fit boy. Medical tests and check-ups are always done every 6 months, we do EKG, all the general tests," said the coach.

The serious incident occurred in the early hours of the morning of January 8, when after being transported from Korça Hospital to Tirana, Leo Sadiku's condition deteriorated significantly and he could not survive. After the case was published in the media, the QSUT issued an official statement explaining that the 12-year-old died from acute myocardial infarction, but this statement has been rejected by his family, who claim medical negligence./ CNA
