The Co-Chair of the "Territorial" Commission, Arbjan Mazniku, said today that the country and its citizens need capable municipalities that function within a European framework.

Mazniku said that the work of the commission, in order to have a good product, must follow important principles of the European Union and local government in general.

"We need strong and capable municipalities that function within a European framework. That know how to do projects or attract funds from Brussels for their community. The spirit that we all need to raise is not to deal with the issue of numbers today, but with the competencies and the opportunities to exercise these competencies. I want us to start and continue the commission from an important principle of the EU and local government in general, which says that services should be provided as close as possible to the citizen, where it is possible to provide the service.
