"ILF Consulting Engineers Austria GmbH" - ABKONS LLC is the winning company for the design of the project-idea for the construction of the Durrës-Pristina railway.

The Directorate of the Albanian Railway has also selected the union of the winning companies of the tender for carrying out the feasibility study and project-idea for this railway line.

"ILF Consulting Engineers Austria GmbH" - ABKONS LLC have offered 168.9 million ALL for the realization of the project.

The limit fund made available by the government in the budget was 200 million ALL.

The companies will have 14 months to do the feasibility study and build the project idea of ??the Durrës-Prishtina railway.

Below we present the alternatives for the feasibility study drawn up by the Albanian Railways:

First:  

It foresees a total length of 137 km. The railway is claimed to start from the Mjeda station in Shkodër to the border with Kosovo. The distance is about 107 km. The new line goes through two successive tunnels due to the difficult terrain up to the Repsi area, near the Rrëshen-Kalimash highway.

Accordingly, the construction of these tunnels is foreseen:

It envisages the construction of a tunnel in the area of ??Bisak and a bridge over the Fierez hydroelectric lake to reach Morina.

And from the part of Kosovo, the railway line plans to go to Gjakovë. The Kramovik-Kafë Morin line is 30 km long.

The second:

The second alternative is 125 km. The crossing of the Milot - Kufiri railway in Vërmicë - Landovicë is foreseen".

The Albanian part together with the Milot - Rrëshen part covers a length of about 108 km.  

Whereas, from Kosovo, the line Klinë - Prizren to the border in Vermica is calculated at about 17 km./ CNA
