The Court of Thessaloniki decided this Thursday the security measure "Arrest in prison" for the 5 Albanians arrested for possession of narcotics.

They were caught a week ago with 585 kg of cocaine.

Those convicted with the measure "Arrest in prison" are the couple Arjan and Lutmira Xhafaj, 50 and 42 years old, Ilirian Baraj and Klevis Muskaj 35 and 21 years old, who are Arjan's nieces, all from Fieri, and Avelino Feimi, 33 years old from Vlora.

The 42-year-old woman denied any involvement in the case.

Information about the illegal shipment - the largest seized in Thessaloniki and one of the largest nationwide - reached Greek authorities through the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) office in Athens. It is not officially known how and when the drug arrived, but it is considered certain that it came from Latin America and was transported by sea to the port of Thessaloniki./ CN
