The honest Duke, the lucky one: I didn't like these two national teams

In the play-off draw held today at FIFA headquarters in Zurich, the Albanian Football Association was represented by President Armand Duka and the national team coach, Silvinjo.

Albania will face Poland in the semifinals, and if successful, will play the winning team of the Ukraine/Sweden pair in the final.

President Duka spoke and commented on the draw. The head of the Albanian football government stressed that he is very happy that the National Team was part of the play-offs and added that all teams are strong. President Duka underlined that the maximum focus should initially be on the first match against Poland.

Poland? – First of all, I am very happy that we are in the draw for the World Cup play-offs. I did not expect there to be any gifts. They are all strong teams. In the second pot, the potential opponents for me were all strong. Poland is a team that we have played with in the last 2-3 years. However, it is very strong, with one of the stars of European football. But, we will try our chances. We must focus maximally on Poland and hope to pass it.

Possible final, against Ukraine or Sweden? – I had no desire whatsoever before we decided which of the four opponents in the second pot I would like in the group. As things turned out in the draw, I would not like the first pot, which was a match in Wales and the second against a possible opponent like Italy. The others all seem very strong to me. On paper, we are not the favorite team to pass this play-off, but we will still do our best. Football is not mathematics, it is a game that has many surprises, there are emotions and I really hope that we give our sports fans positive emotions.
