New applications/ Help for yourself and your health through technology

We're still in the first weeks of the year and it's the right time to find ways to create a new routine.

However, there is something to be said for taking the time to recalibrate and practice true self-care. Traditional solutions can be reframed into things you want to achieve to live a more peaceful and healthy life. That's why, in the age of technology, new apps can come to our aid.

1. To increase productivity

Productivity doesn’t mean coping with stress. But taking control of your goals can help you achieve a sense of calm. With the Todoist app, you can collect all your thoughts and then start breaking them down into easily achievable tasks. Todoist lets you keep track of multiple projects or goals at once. You can prioritize and set reminders for all subtasks. Tasks can be viewed as a list, on a calendar, or plotted on a board, allowing you to see things in the most effective way for your needs.

2. For mental health

Therapy is one of the most valuable things you can do for yourself. However, it can also bring its own issues, such as cost, discomfort, and concerns about the stigma of seeking help. If you're hesitant to use any of the apps that have had some privacy issues, you can also see mental health professionals on Doctor on Demand and MDLive.

3. On revenue management

Money management may not be your thing, but staying on top of your finances can buy you valuable peace of mind. Rocket Money does a lot of the work for you, with tools for tracking financial accounts and transactions, budgeting, automated savings, and letting you see your credit score. Perhaps most importantly, it gives you instant savings by showing you all those things you've subscribed to and forgotten about, and helps you cancel the ones you don't want.

4.To quit smoking

If you smoke, quitting is the best thing you can do for your health and the health of those you love. While it's hard to text and smoke at the same time, your phone can help you put that cigarette down for good. Smoke Free offers clinics, advice, a community, and a chatbot to guide you.

For extra motivation in the form of meditation, complete a quit smoking app with Quit Smoking With AJ (iOS, Android). Hypnotherapist Sean Connery's sound is soothing and effective.

5. On food care

If you're concerned about the quality of your food, download Yuka. You can scan barcodes or type in a product to get the pros and cons of each item. There's detailed information about the reasons behind it all. Yuka also rates the safety of cosmetic products.

If you want to track calories, MyFitnessPal makes it easy, with a database of over 14 million foods. If something isn't there, enter it manually or scan a UPC code. But it's the app's integration with other fitness trackers and apps that really makes it a winner, giving you a complete picture of calories in and calories out. If you want a more formal program, you'll do well to join the time-tested Weight Watchers (now known as WW) and use its companion app, which includes 24/7 support from a trainer.

6.To remind you to hydrate

The benefits of staying hydrated throughout the day are numerous. But remembering to drink water is one of those things that should be easy, but really isn't during a busy day.

Apps including Waterllama (iOS) and Waterful (iOS and Android) can help you remember. They both let you set your goal and choose your favorite drinks, have motivating but not too annoying reminders, and come with cool graphics./CNA
