After a tiring day at work, we decide to consume the leftovers from the previous day.

But before we do this we must make sure that there are no risks to our health.

Experts warn that when reheating yesterday's food you should be very careful, as it can become dangerous.

If you eat rice that you cooked the day before and it was not stored properly, you risk food poisoning. This may be because boiling it does not always succeed in killing all the pathogenic microbes it contains.

According to University of North Carolina food safety expert Benjamin Chapman, the chance for germs to multiply in rice increases when it is kept at room temperature.

What you can do to be safe is to refrigerate the rice within two hours of cooking.

You should also wash it with plenty of water and cool it after boiling it. Another option is to keep it at a warm temperature.

However, the practice of many restaurants, which boil the rice in the morning and keep it throughout the day to serve whenever needed, is definitely wrong. On the contrary, rice in sushi is not a problem because it contains vinegar which reduces the possibility of germ growth
