The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, has recently stated that a draft law is ready that provides for the establishment of the Criminal Assets Recovery Office.

The minister also asked for the support of the opposition in the government's effort to attack organized crime. 

"The Asset Recovery Office is an institution within the police that will track hidden assets created by criminal activity and corruption. It is a good model in some of the EU countries. We have set it as one of the important objectives within the road of membership, is something that was lacking in the structure of the state police in terms of the fight against organized crime. We need efficient investigative work to identify and confiscate assets, accounts or anything else that crime has created due to criminal activities that we will have the support of the opposition in our effort to intensify the fight against organized crime", said Balla. /CNA
