The mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, attacks opposition protesters in every meeting he holds with the socialists.

Veliaj's political discourse is the same, "they only know how to destroy, while we only build and do good works".

Veliaj overlooks the fact that some of these works were carried out with illegal procedures, as in the case of the company "5D", where the directors of Veliaj have predetermined their winning company for the tenders that were opened by the Municipality of Tirana.

"We have been through tremendous challenges in this community. I remember when we met together 4 years ago, when there were protests in Astiri, where being a socialist in the Astiri area was one of the most difficult things. At the moment when tires are burned once, twice, twelve times at the town hall, it is now called routine, but that style, that form of doing politics with burning tires, with hatred towards each other, with division towards each other, started to Astiri, where at that time he was the other chairman of the PD and said: Here is the red line and the highway will not cross. Meanwhile, that highway is the main economic artery, transport, energy, business for the whole of Tirana and here we are today. For all those who said this is a red line, we will never cross it, we socialists said: no, people, because the city cannot be blocked like this. If someone has built without a permit, they will be compensated, but the city must have a highway, the city must have schools, the city must have parks, the city must have all the facilities that every other city has", he emphasized.

Veliaj has chosen not to talk about the directors who are accused of abusing tenders by SPAK.

The mayor has chosen to remain silent, as if to show that if he does not speak about this issue, the affair will be forgotten. But in fact the affair of the directors is there, while other directors are expected to end up in the "network" of SPAK./ CNA
