Mayor Erion Veliaj, from Unit 7, has continued with the same political rhetoric, attacking the opposition protests made in front of the Municipality of Tirana, or in front of the Parliament.

According to Veliaj, the opposition only knows how to communicate with the language of violence.

Even though the right to protest is a legitimate right that citizens around the world exercise, Veliaj said that opposition protests should be stopped, as they are disturbing foreign tourists, who have known best how to exercise this right for decades.

"We're in 2024, they're still like '97. Even then with hu and wood, even today with hu and wood. It doesn't matter whether they have a stamp or not, whether they are in the opposition or in the government, they [PD] only know how to speak that kind of language. Tourists come to photograph the city, but are horrified in front of the city hall and parliament to see this tire-burning Zoo. There is another party in the world that burns tires, it is the Taliban. Therefore, we are destined to win, to defeat them, as the only force that civilizes the country, that brings European spirit, European appearance, European speech. It is a national duty to keep winning", he said.

As CNA has reported, the investigations into Tirana's incinerator are nearing the end, while other arrest warrants are expected against the directors, including the mayor himself.

Panicked by these investigations, Veliaj wanted to avoid attention from his problem by dealing with those of the opposition. According to him, he supports the work of the new justice, unlike the opposition.

Although the facts show that Veliaj is more afraid of responsibility, after the in-depth investigations of the Special Prosecutor's Office, made for a series of files, from "5D" to the non-existent incinerator of Tirana.

"When they are in that alley in front of the town hall, they say Long Live Justice. When they are at "Mustafa Matohiti" alley, they say "Down with Justice". But we say, whoever has made mistakes, go and clarify them. What is this duplicity? How can you change your attitude in 30 minutes?! Therefore, friends, it is not only desire and passion, it is a patriotic duty to continue to win, to lead Albania and Tirana", he emphasized.

The mayor says that the opposition has double standards in terms of justice, even though his recent actions prove the same./ CNA
