Elections in Macedonia/ Zhulali: Democratic and problem-free process, unlike

International affairs expert Ilda Zhulali commented today regarding the electoral process in North Macedonia.

In an interview on 'Syri Tv', Zhulali said that the neighboring country, together with Kosovo, develops democratic processes, uncontested and without problems, unlike Albania and Serbia.

Zhulali also focused on the preliminary results and the balances established between the main and coalition parties in the RMV.

"The first thing that impresses us in Albania is that a normal electoral process took place. And in this sense, Macedonia joins Kosovo as two countries that develop democratic electoral processes, uncontested without problems, unlike Albania and Serbia, which are two problematic countries in the development of elections in the Western Balkans region. So, for every Albanian citizen living in Albania, it is that a process took place without problems, uncontested and that represents the free will of citizens in Macedonia of any ethnicity.

Secondly, the preliminary results that we have so far come and we have a consolidation of VMRO-DPMNE which is in its second year of government. So there has not been a big fluctuation from the victory in the general elections, while on the other hand the party that stands on the other side of the balance is SDSM, because it seems that these elections were divided into a race between the Central Macedonians and the Central Albanians.

"This is at least the general perception and at least this is how the results are being treated so far, including by the political parties in Macedonia themselves. And SDSM has suffered a very large loss and its catastrophic result seems to have been influenced by the new, left-wing party that has entered the political scene. In a way, SDSM has also borne the cost of its governance, but also the cost of the agreements it has reached during its time in power, whether with Greece or Bulgaria, which has also attracted increased attention in the last two years in Macedonia as long as it continues to be blocked in its EU membership process," Zhulali said. /CNA
