"The Diaspora's vote is to Berisha's credit"/ Baçi:

Democratic Party MP Luan Baçi emphasized in a television appearance that the Socialist Party and Edi Rama have been at the forefront of opposing the Diaspora vote in the May 11 elections.

Baçi added that the majority has tried to obstruct the process in various ways, while saying that the Diaspora's vote is a merit of the leader of the DP, Sali Berisha.

"The Socialist Party, the majority, Prime Minister Rama, from the very beginning have always been against the diaspora vote. They have tried with all sorts of reasons, stale arguments to hinder it, even to not give this process at all, to not call this process. To not put it into motion in these elections.

And for this we already have a history of how the conversations, the discussions, and how it was reached to this point. If it was reached to this point for the diaspora vote, this is the merit of the Democratic Party and its leader, Mr. Berisha.

Let us remember, from the very beginning with the problems and obstacles that the Socialist Party raised, from the amendment to the Electoral Code that they made it a condition that they did not accept open lists and with the sole purpose of blocking the diaspora vote.

But, the DP took a cost by accepting that Electoral Code for those lists proposed by the SP, just to get the diaspora vote approved. The diaspora vote was approved and then let me say, with some obstacles that the SP and the Prime Minister have really put in this process. It was said at the beginning about the identity cards and passports that had expired.

"Their insistence was that these people should not vote. After a very strong insistence from the DP, they were forced to issue a VKM, and extended the deadline and declared valid passports and IDs that had passed their expiration date," said Baçi.
