The Italian Senate approved the agreement on the recognition of social security/

The Italian Senate approved today in plenary session the agreement on the recognition of social security contributions with Albania.

The Minister of State for Relations with Parliament, Taulant Balla, was also present at the plenary session of the Italian Senate.

Italy and Albania reached an agreement on February 6, 2024, an agreement that benefits about 550,000 Albanians and about 4,000 Italians.

In his reaction on social media after reaching this agreement, Taulant Balla emphasized that this is a very important day for compatriots in Italy.

Taulant Balla's reaction:

Done! With all votes in favor, the Senate of the Italian Parliament ratified the finalization of the agreement between the Republic of Albania and the Italian Republic in the field of Social Security/Pensions. This is a very important day for all our compatriots in Italy, but also their family members everywhere, because with the entry into force of the Agreement, all those (450,000-500,000 Albanians) who have been living, sacrificing, working and contributing to the economic development of Italy for many years, (from '90 onwards) but also those Italian citizens who have contributed and worked in Albania, will finally have the opportunity to enjoy and benefit from social security/pensions. With the signing by President Mattarella, the Agreement enters into force. /CNA
