Lawyer Brizida Gjikondi has drawn attention to the Constitutional Court's decision to reinstate Erion Veliaj to office.

In a statement to CNA, Gjikondi slapped the members of the Constitutional Court, emphasizing that with that decision they challenged national morality by forcibly keeping at the head of the Albanian metropolis a person who is a defendant by the justice system.

"Moreover, the compromised politics of the majority and its extensions in the Constitutional Court challenge national morality by forcibly keeping at the head of the Albanian metropolis a person who is a defendant by justice," Gjikondi declared to CNA.

The lawyer further emphasized that senior figures of a state must first and foremost be dignified and morally pure.

Gjikondi adds that the justification and camouflage behind innocence cannot apply to figures of the rank of mayor.  

"Let's not forget that high-ranking figures of a state must first and foremost be dignified and morally pure; reasoning and camouflage behind innocence cannot apply to figures of the rank of mayor, etc.," said Gjikondi./ CNA
