Analyst: Opposition convinced it cannot win elections with Rama as prime

Analyst and journalist Mentor Kikia told CNA that the best and most fruitful way to change governments is through voting, when people choose with their free will.

Kikia emphasizes that overthrowing the government through protests/riots are undemocratic, unusual cases and, above all, have social, societal and economic costs.

But according to the analyst, the opposition is convinced that it cannot win the elections as long as Edi Rama is prime minister because he and the socialist majority are manipulating the elections and the OSCE report on the May 2025 elections proved many of its claims right.

Kikia underlines that this is why the opposition has called on people to come together to force the "Rama 4" government to resign and create a transitional government to make the necessary reforms, and then the country can move to early elections.

"The best and most effective way to change governments is to vote. The day when people choose, of their own free will, whether to keep the government they have or replace it, should be a day of celebration. But, especially in Albania, elections are not a day of celebration, quite the opposite.

The overthrow of the government through protests/riots are undemocratic, unusual cases and, above all, with social, societal and economic costs. But the opposition is now convinced that it cannot win the elections as long as Edi Rama is prime minister because he and the socialist majority are manipulating the elections. And the OSCE report on the May 2025 elections proved many of its claims right. For this reason, the opposition has called on people to come together to force the "Rama 4" government to resign and create a transitional government to carry out the necessary reforms, and then the country can move to early elections," Kikia declared to CNA.
