Democrat Ilir Alimehmeti said today that the Democrats had reasons for not being present in the Assembly today, as Albania's resolution on Iran was approved this Tuesday.

In a television studio, Alimehmeti said that the opposition boycott came about due to the lack of notice according to the regulation for sessions held on urgent matters.

"The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has declared the Revolutionary Guard of Iran a terrorist organization, saying; we are on the side of the United States of America and Israel in their attempt to overthrow the Ayatollah regime. The reason why the DP was not in the Assembly is that the DP was not notified. I think that this state is completely unconstitutional and illegal, it operates outside the laws, outside the regulations and outside the Constitution. The regulation clearly states that the sessions are on Thursday. It is not Thursday today. The regulation says that the sessions can be held when there are urgent issues, or draft decisions requested with an accelerated procedure. The second element is that the disclosure of the minutes of previous meetings occurs when there are other items on the agenda. So, the Albanian Parliament cannot meet only to disclose the past minutes that they have made. While the session is on Thursday and it is normal for the session to be on Thursday. And it could very well have been held on Thursday or if it had been said that we have this urgent matter so that everyone would understand why the meeting was needed today. Mr. Peleshi does not understand how the rules of the Parliament work. If the Speaker of the Parliament does not know that he should put something on the agenda, then tell me what this means. What is happening in the Middle East is a serious issue. It is a very big issue, it should be considered very seriously, it required discussion by all parties", - said Alimehmeti./CNA
