Pension reform/World Bank: We guarantee our support

The International Conference on the reform of the pension system in Albania is being held today in Tirana.

The challenges and ambitions of the new pension system reform are being discussed.

Present are Prime Minister Edi Rama, Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, and the World Bank Director for the Western Balkans, Xiaoqing Yu.

The World Bank's Director for the Western Balkans, Xiaoqing Yu, said that this reform is very important for the country and that she guaranteed full support from the World Bank.

"Pension reforms are important in every country.

Policies made today will affect future retirees.

This issue needs to be resolved.

This reform in Albania has had many additions to the category.

Pensions are important to people and have a macroeconomic impact.

The 2014 reform has significantly helped the country.

By relying on this reform, we are on the right track.

The World Bank has strongly supported the reform of the pension system.

Private pensions have a complementary role.

Change in pension policy will only succeed if it offers general support.
