Pension scheme/ Blendi Gonxhja: A long-term solution is needed

Minister with three portfolios, Blendi Gonxja, in his speech at the International Conference on the challenges and ambitions of the new pension system reform for Albania, stated that bonuses are a solution for pensioners but not sufficient. He stated that a more long-term solution for pensions should be seen.

Gonxhe said that we need to raise awareness of informality by fighting it.  

"It requires the responsibility of state officials, experts and the entire society. In 2014, the government adopted the most profound pension reform, without that reform the situation would have been much worse."

Today, thanks to this reform and the fight against informality and digitalization, the number of contributors has increased.

Albania is in its best economic moment. The tourism and construction boom are turning Albania into an attractive country.

We are concerned about their insufficiency. The attempt to address the adequacy of income for retirees with the highest end-of-year and spring bonuses, but this cannot be a solution, there must be a longer-term solution.
