The President of Croatia, Zoran Milanovic, delivered this Wednesday a speech from the Assembly of Albania, which met in a special session.

Milanovic said that Croatia will strongly support Albania for EU membership.

He stated that the support will not only be political, but also technical.

"Thank you for your warm hospitality in your wonderful country. Our two friendly and allied countries share cultural, historical, geographical and political ties. Our friendship goes back a long way and close relations were confirmed when most needed during the defense of to the war for independence in Croatia. Many Albanians got involved at that time and for that we are very grateful. The Albanian minority in our country are very active, they are a bridge between us, they are an excellent example of how a minority can serve as a bridge between two countries Croatia and Albania have strengthened their relations much more than ever. We are more connected by the alliance in NATO, our relationship is excellent. This cooperation is interconnected in the field, especially economic because the trade exchange has increased by 60%. I am glad that we have Albanian tourists.

Of course, recognizing Kosovo is one of the things we say the most. In bilateral and multilateral forums, we consider it unfair and unstable that Albania became a member of NATO in 2009 and since then they are far behind regarding the process of Albania's membership in the EU. I congratulate Albania for the great progress and hope that this progress will be appreciated. "Croatia will continue to strongly support Albania in its integration into the EU, both politically and technically," Milanovic emphasized./ CNA
