The salaries of the judges of the Constitutional Court "clash" the

The bill to increase the salaries of judges of the Constitutional Court brought debates this Thursday afternoon in the Assembly.

Deputy Jorida Tabaku debated with socialist Toni Gogu, who asked him to pass this draft law for debate in the Laws Commission.

The latter responded to Tabak, saying that he is distorting his statements and that there can be no bargaining with the Constitutional Court.

Excerpts from the debate:

Tabaku: This law must go to the Laws Commission to undergo discussions just like any other package. A week's delay is not what we are asking for. We are asking that this law be within the principles of the system while also maintaining the hierarchy.

This cannot be treated separately as a "piece", only that today you have made an agreement with the members of the Constitutional Court.

Gogu: I am not here to advocate for the Constitutional Court. I am here as a legislator of the Republic of Albania and I am talking about an act, I welcome your proposal, I completely agree, but there are some truths that need to be said and there is no need to distort what I am saying.

I am saying that the Constitutional Court addressed the Assembly with a series of proposals. The Constitutional Court cannot enter, as you propose, with the discussion like ordinary courts. We broke the hierarchy because the judges of the Constitutional Court have always been the best paid.

What I am saying is to fix the injustice at the heart of the justice system. Either the Constitutional Court or the Supreme Court cannot be held hostage by shopping with them./ CNA
