Guterres raises the alarm/ Russia is threatening world stability

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres took strong stances against Russia over the war in Ukraine.

Guterres told the UN Security Council that Russia has carried out merciless attacks, including sexual violence.

"Evidence has been documented of widespread and shocking human rights violations, including conflict-related sexual violence, arbitrary detentions, summary executions, primarily by Russia, and the forcible transfer of Ukrainian civilians, including children, to the territory under Russian control or in Russia.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine was followed by relentless and systematic attacks against civilians, infrastructure and civilian services, including health care and educational facilities. Attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure must be stopped immediately," he said.

The Secretary General of the UN declared that the Russian occupation is increasing the nuclear threat and is sending the world towards ever deeper cracks.

"Russia is exacerbating geopolitical tensions and divisions, threatening regional stability, increasing the nuclear threat and creating deep rifts in an increasingly multipolar world," he stressed, demanding that something be done to stop this.

"We are looking for peace, where we have contributed during these years to prevent the war between Russia and Ukraine, which has escalated globalism, where millions of lives should be saved," Guterres underlined./ CNA
