The OSCE/ODIHR presence in Albania has appreciated the efforts to include 30% of women in the Assembly, calling it progress for gender equality in the country. 

In response, it is emphasized that they welcome the current inter-party efforts, led by women MPs, and hope that the changes in the Electoral Code will guarantee Albania's leading position in the region and beyond in relation to gender representation in parliament. 

"The presence of the OSCE in Albania appreciates the extraordinary progress in the field of gender equality that Albania has made in recent years, especially for the participation and representation of women in political life.  We welcome the current cross-party efforts, led by women MPs, and hope that changes to the Electoral Code guarantee Albania's leading position in the region and beyond in terms of gender representation in parliament," the post reads.

This reaction comes after Parliament Speaker Lindita Nikolla, Minister Elisa Spiropali, SP MP Etilda Gjonaj, Democratic MPs Albana Vokshi and Dhurata Çupi have requested that even in the open part of the list, ensure that ? of those who will go to Parliament to be women. /CNA
