CEC did not register Gjergj Nikë/ Lawyer in KAS: He will keep his mandate

The lawyer of the candidate for the Municipality of Vlora, Gjergj Nika, appeared today at this Sunday's meeting of the Complaints and Sanctions Commission.

In his speech, Nika's legal representative focused on the legal aspect of the issue and emphasized the role of the nominating group of voters.

The lawyer said that the signatures are not related to the number of voters and that Nika intends to hold the mandate in his own name and not as part of any political force.

"In our view, it is right for the law to have a group of voters that proposes the candidate, but it cannot be equated with the initiative group because it is a matter of practicality. Point 4 of Article 70 excludes the candidate proposed by the voter as long as he has a mandate. In this case, it is a mandate that will be held under his personal name, not in the name of a party that supports him. If we are to make an interpretation, from Article 63, the initiating subject is for the individual to be elected. The signatures collected according to Article 70 are deposited with the CEC and this is where the role of the initiative group ends," the lawyer said. /CNA
