Democratic MP Sajmir Korreshi has denounced today the cutting of trees on the sidewalks of the city of Lushnja, as part of the action to free up public spaces.

In a television broadcast, Korreshi accused the mayor of Lushnja, Eriselda Sefa, of ordering this completely abnormal act.

Korreshi stated that regarding this issue, the DP and he himself as an MP are compiling a criminal report.

"Today they are asking us to cut down these trees too. They have cut down some trees because they don't want fruit trees. You can imagine where we have come to. We have a memorandum for not cutting down trees. Even at home we have to get permission to cut them down. They are cutting them down because it is a public space. I told them let's cut down the flowerbed too, let's free it and do something. The DP and I in particular are drafting a criminal report for cutting down the trees because I have heard that they have cut down olive trees in some neighborhoods of Lushnja, but I have not seen any reaction from the citizens of Lushnja", said Korreshi./CNA
