Theft has eroded the Municipality of Tirana, Veliaj admits

Mayor Erion Veliaj has publicly admitted abuses or thefts of millions of euros in the Municipality of Tirana. On Wednesday, in a meeting with young people, he confirmed with his own mouth that the institution he leads is full of thieves.

According to him, for this reason it will be a British company that will filter all the procedures carried out by this institution, from the way decisions are made, how they are controlled and to the implementation of projects.

The man, who initially after the arrests of SPAK, said that his directors were some former officials, then said that there was only one director, today he admitted that the entire chain of command of the Municipality of Tirana was involved in the affairs and corruption scandals. (read here)

Some of the directors of Veliaj are accused of corruption, some of them are also being investigated for their assets. Of course for the famous "5D" files and incinerators. (read here)

There are other files that Erion Veliaj thinks are closed, just as he cooked them on the dirty political tables of Tirana. But investigations by SPAK continue, there are other affairs and scandals to come. (read here)

Meanwhile, today Erion Veliaj has publicly admitted that his municipality is a bunch of thieves, where public funds are stolen and wasted. This is the clear message that comes from what Veliaj himself made public, saying that an English company will scan the tenders and procedures carried out in the Municipality of Tirana. (read here)

This is another scandal, within the scandal, as citizens pay taxes and Erion Veliaj admits that they are stolen. There is no other reason why a foreign company should come to scan the works in the municipality and moreover we have to pay this company. Since we not only pay taxes and these taxes are stolen, now we also have to pay a foreign company to check and verify how these taxes paid by Albanian citizens are stolen.

This is one of the most flagrant, most shameful cases in the history of 34 years of transition in Albania, where an institution asks to control the procurement methods, tenders or how it spends the income it has.

The questions arise: What are the other structures in the Municipality of Tirana for? What is this internal audit of the institution for? How can a foreign institution audit when in fact this institution exists in Albania? It is the High Control of the State, but there is also another structure attached to the Prime Minister.  Where do these structures go?

Therefore, Erion Veliaj does not accept to be audited by KLSH, does not accept as true the investigations carried out by SPAK. He does not accept the work of the officials in the Municipality of Tirana, as he confirms that they are thieves, but he emphasizes that he should hire an English company, pay the latter to control his thieves.

In fact, the controls are there, the institutions are there. Erion Veliaj takes an English company, as if to say that even those who control his thieves are thieves of the same organization that is run by the mayor./CNA
