The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, received today in a meeting the new Charge d'Affaires at the Embassy of the United States in Tirana, Nancy VanHorn.

The Head of State congratulated the American diplomat on the start of the task, expressing the belief that during her mandate, the strategic partnership with the United States of America will be further strengthened.

President Begaj reaffirmed Albania's growing commitment and contribution to this strategic partnership, expressing gratitude to the United States for its generous and decisive support to our country.

He also emphasized that the support of the USA increases Albania's commitment to democratic reforms and the rule of law, these sustainable efforts aimed at finalizing membership in the European Union.

Regarding the situation in the region, the president said that Albania appreciates the commitment of the American administration, stressing that the role of the United States of America in the Western Balkans remains crucial.

In the meeting, Albania's role for regional stability and development, commitment to international missions for peace and security, as well as its stance against efforts that undermine peace through the expansion of conflicts, were evaluated. /CNA
