The candidate of the Socialist Party for the Municipality of Himara, Vangjel Tavo, has announced the victory, as the last boxes remain to be counted.

He promises to put the interests of the citizens before his own, to lead Himara towards peace and to increase cooperation between Albania and Greece.

Full statement:

Himara won today!

Dear residents of Himara, Lukovë and Horë-Vranisht administrative units, and all villages without any distinction,

I am deeply grateful to you for giving me your trust to run the Himara Municipality. This belief will be translated into work and the fulfillment of all the points of my program, for which you also voted for me.

I will lead by serving, I will work putting your interests above everything, and I will be the mayor dedicated to each and every one of you, both my voters and the part that did not vote for me, because Himara is indivisible, because the development that we looking forward to Himara is not fragmented but one and whole. Because political colors are individual while the future is shared and communal. And, only in this way, inseparable from beliefs and divisions, in coexistence and complete harmony, we will move Himara forward, in peace and prosperity.

Himara belongs to the Himarjots and the Himarjots deserve to live as they want: in freedom, harmony and coexistence with all the realities in Himar, moving forward side by side for the good of the community and the well-being of each family.

Together we will have a democratic, contemporary, European, multicultural, developed and prosperous Himara, with the growth of an economy that directly affects the budget of simple families. A Himare that will attract investments in tourism, services, infrastructure, culture, and others. An all-inclusive Himara that belongs only to the residents, a people with a unique and glorious history, proud of their ancestors and the rare values ??they have.

I want to express my deep gratitude to Prime Minister Edi Rama who proposed me and believed in me with his full will and kindness to give Himara normality and even greater support to move forward and develop. as it deserves. To make Himara the headline of cooperation and harmony between Albania and Greece, leaving behind in the past the closed chapter before August 4, and from today, looking forward to a more unifying and European future.

I thank the structures of the SP, every member of my close team but also remote supporters, every commissioner and observer, and anyone who contributed to the whole election process being orderly and democratic.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I am very grateful.

In conclusion, I want to repeat what I have repeatedly said before the voting date, that my word is a public contract for keeping promises. Thus, no longer as a candidate, but now officially as the Mayor of Himarë, I invite Mr. Petro Gjikuria to accept the position of deputy mayor of the municipality. I am aware that this is unprecedented in the electoral history of the last three decades, so for this very reason, I start first with the concrete example of cooperation and unity that this municipality deserves.

If Mr. Gjikuria has decided to stay and live in Himara, I welcome her to accept and join our program for Himara and the Himarjots. It has an open invitation to contribute ideas and energy to move forward. Because Himara belongs to everyone.

In closing, I once again express my gratitude and feel deeply privileged and honored to serve you as Mayor of Himara Municipality.

Thank you.
