The elected mayor of Himara, Vangjel Tavo, reacted after the statement of his rival, Petro Gjikuria, who did not accept the election results.

In a status on social networks, Tavo declares that he received a congratulatory call from Gjikuria.

The socialist says that Gjikuria's reaction after the phone call has disappointed him, while he claims that the election result was clean.

However, Tavo also repeats the invitation for the opposition candidate to work with him as deputy mayor.

Dear Peter,

Today Himara had a great reason to rejoice because she was the winner of the 4th of August, just as I had and my heart is full of endless messages of congratulations from many, many residents of Himara, supporters at home and abroad .

But one more spark of this joy was your congratulatory phone call a few hours ago. I appreciated it very much and sincerely accepted it as an act of citizenship and the behavior of an open-minded Western man, but, without denying it, I also waited in the hope that you were calling me to accept my public invitation to join the program our manager of the Himara Municipality in the position of deputy mayor.

But, my high expectation of you lasted only a little and now I am sorry for your reaction, do you say that Himara is a battlefield where enemy armies face each other and not political and civic alternatives, as in all of democratic Albania.

I remind you, dear, that this time there were more voters in Himare than in years, when the government had postponed the expiration date of identity cards. And the result is what it is, a product of the free will of the citizens, while there were not, nor were there any thousands of voters who were denied the right, since the voting time has 99.99% gone with the dictatorship.

Yes, true! There were several dozen citizens, voters of yours and mine, who could not vote because of expired identity documents, for whom those who listened to the call of the Ministry of the Interior and renewed it could even vote normally.

Therefore, dear Petro, I repeat my invitation to you not to leave the place you came from, if you stay with me at my side, in the position of deputy mayor.

I would be very honored if you would accept my proposal, and in the opposite case I wish you with all my heart a good journey to America and success there. But in all cases, let's stay in touch and don't worry about Himara, because she is in safe hands and has the indisputable support of Edi Rama and the Socialist Party./ CNA
