EU, 4.8 million euro grants for INSTAT/ Soreca: Important for the path in the EU

The European Union has allocated 4.8 million euros to INSTAT for the development of the Population and Housing Census. The statement was given by the EU ambassador, Luigi Soreca, during a press conference together with the head of the Albanian government, Edi Rama.

The EU diplomat emphasized that this census will also help Albania's path towards the EU.

"It is a privilege for me to return to Albania at such a special moment for the country, the EU membership process. Albania arrives at this moment in a very good shape, ready for a very important meeting in December in Brussels. I participated in those meetings of a long and complicated process, but it gives me a satisfaction that this process is about to start", he said.


Soreca added that the previous Census will serve for a better inclusion of national minorities in Albania.

The Census of Population and Housing will start on September 18 and will collect data in the field for 6 weeks.
