Today, a fake news about Lulzim Basha is spreading in the media.

According to reports, Basha has been appointed rapporteur for the confiscation of Russian assets and their use to repair the damage caused by Russia's aggression against Ukraine, by the Committee for Political Affairs and Democracy in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

But a document obtained by CNA shows that this news is false. The document refers to a request that the General Secretary of the Assembly, Genci Gjonçaj sent to Gazment Bardhi as the chairman of the DP Parliamentary Group.

Gjonçaj, by order of Speaker of the Parliament Lindita Nikolla, requests approval from Gazment Bardhi to allow Lulzim Basha as a member of the Monitoring Commission to participate in the meetings of the Committees of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

And according to the document, which bears the signature of the Secretary of the Assembly, the meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 13, while today is September 12.

Luli declared himself commissioner immediately after Lindita Nikolla's letter, so he was appointed by Albania, by Prime Minister Edi Rama and not by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, as the media announced.

Basha has taken the place that KiE gives to a commissioner, after Lulin was sent to France by Rama.

However, his appointment has not been made yet, as the Assembly document states that the meeting will take place on the 13th.

It is certain that Basha will be part of a commission, led by Lindita Nikolla, by order of Rama./ CNA
